After a year of on-off lockdown, during which we've been unable to have any BLUF events in London, things look like they're slowly improving, though we're not out of the woods yet.
I thought it was time to update everyone with what news we have, and how we hope things will progress over the coming months.
Across London, we're fortunate enough to have some excellent stores serving the community, and those are now open for visitors once again. If you're in Soho, don't forget to check out Clone Zone and Regulation. And please don't forget Fetish Freak, either; based a few minutes' walk from Oval station, this small independent store is well worth supporting, and even carries a selection of used gear, so you can often find some bargains.
At the moment, it's only possible to drink outside, and so for the time being the London Leather Social will remain an online event. We gather from them that they are hoping it will be possible to meet in person for the July social, which would be on Sunday 4th, but that does depend on things keeping to the roadmap, so we'll update everyone a little closer to the time.
When it comes to BLUF meetings, we haven't scheduled any yet. We have spoken with The Backstreet, and they're looking forward to being able to open when the rule allow. Once we have confirmation, we'll schedule some BLUF nights - though I'm sure plenty of you will be keen to visit Backstreet even if there isn't a special event, after such a long hiatus.
Looking a little further ahead, Pride in London is scheduled for the 11th of September this year. That's the same weekend as Folsom Europe - though obviously at this early stage, it's impossible to know exactly what form either event will take.
We've taken part in the Pride Parade for most of the last decade, but with it happening the same weekend as Folsom Europe is planned, would there be sufficient people in London to make up a group? I'd love to hear feedback from people regarding this. Will you be planning to travel this summer? Or would you prefer to stay at home?
I'll post another update when we have more information. In the meantime, stay safe, and I hope to see many of you soon.
Nigel.
