The sugar shack, maple grove or sugar refinery is the place where maple products are made, including the famous maple syrup. The sugar refinery is located in the sugar bush where the maple grower collects the spring sap, maple trees, also called maple sap. This water is removed from the tree cells in the fall to allow it to survive the winter frost. It is not raw sap, nor elaborate sap, which is bitter.
